Thoughts on blm
Blm as an idiom is self-evident. Of course black lives matter, right? No one actually thinks black lives matter less than white lives. Not sure why you'd ever have to choose anyway, but the overwhelming vast majority extend equal value to all human lives. So the idiom is obvious.. but I disagree with many major points in the social analysis and the proposed solutions that the blm movement and organization present.
•I do not believe in equity (equality of outcome) over equality (equality of opportunity... in so far as we respect freedom of choice and do not task government to interfere by squelching opportunities gained by the statistically better off)
---To a degree, obviously black people have inherited things of the American cultural and material past. And it is true, yet superficial to point out, that blacks are under-represented in many respects. But when you parse down the data you find that--to any extent that there is some systemic bias--any existing systemic bias is a minute factor in represented social problems which cause those disproportions that it hasn't even been properly identified in any distribution of causation determinants (and we are not short on searches in the witch hunt to find that it exists). Its not skin, and by and large it is not racism! In fact, the economic wealth trajectory for blacks during the Civil rights movement was a significant multiple of what it was afterward. Wonder why that is!! No claims of racism are substantiated by quantified proofs of foundational bias in the community... so all we have to point to is the disproportion, but what is causing it?... Because POC racism does not explain the economics.
Culture does though: Asians have the highest qualifications, score the best on standardized testing, and earn the most of all racial groups on average. Is this because of a positive bias? Is our culture... AsianSupremecist? No. This is due to their earned merit on average... their work ethic, their traditional structure of values and teachings which practice stringent moral standards and academic perfection.
Psychology does though: 61.3 percent of black people live in a single parent household compared to 15.7 percent of white children. This deeply affects child behavior.
Government regulation does though: Marriage is not an upperclass thing... or... at least it didn't used to be. Why? There are no doubt many factors, but part of this cultural degradation can be traced back to welfare (as it is currently structured), and affirmative action deteriorating the complex social web which impacts educational and relationship choices. Handouts strip people of their reliance on each other, familial roles, self-respect, sense of inclusion, etc. No one is relying on a taker. This mindset can lead to idleness... disdain, etc (do you remember being 16 with nothing to do? No responsibilities or sense of self worth? I do.)... they lead to separation... gov benefits incentivize non-socially validated (non-marrital) partnerships, etc. These family culture blows lead to sociologically bigger and broader ones, too. No sense of family--> no sense of community, and so on... leading to other divergent phenomena in towns, schools, internet/technology, and a whole litany of others.
•All of that notwithstanding, and despite the social misanalysis by locutors of the blm movement, I do not believe in many of the blm backed proposals for solutions to racial disproportions... such as reparations. Which will not solve a god-damn thing regarding race relations. It will undoubtedly make it worse.
•I believe in the nuclear family and there is evidence for its efficacy in kids' performance throughout life. Though I believe they may have redacted their statement about eradicating it since I checked last? But given the logical hole they've made, they're 2 steps away from putting it back. It seems an inevitable consequence of the belief structure when you've woven all the false pretenses of race and culture together.
•I do not believe that a cultural victim mentality will lead to progress... I care not to expand on that...
•I do not believe in Marxism or in lineal track thinking on progression of systems (ESPECIALLY when it comes to the propagation of money) and it is quite proven by now that systemic methods of control prove to make the problems worse. Top-down hierarchical centralization of cultural and monetary action does. Not. Work. Period. So I do not believe in BLM's cultural solutions or their economic solutions of redistribution either.. they're all proven not to work.
•I dont believe in the group fixation of separating things by race or gender... I think its bad. Relatedly, I think Robin d angelo and ibram x kendi are fuckin hacks and I think the racist garbage they spew is abhorrent.
•I think that we only live in an unfree system to the extent that the government is in the way and is openly supporting, not a free market, but a crony capitalism that supports monopolistic leaching of production and value. And I am not interested in making our system less free in any way.
•I dont think the defund the police movement is at all coherent, even though I admit that I would entertain structures of private policing.
•There is no disproportion in deaths by police as blacks commit more crimes due to reasons stated above and... when you consider all of this... blm has literally nothing to stand on. They aren't providing solutions to the real problems (like black on black crime), they're creating phantom problems in place of setting an expectation that people be accountable for themselves.
That said, I do belive in eradicating no knock raids. And in the decriminalization of non-violent drug offenses. And in eliminating government seizure of property.
Yall want to talk about "rights"? Rights are for humans. Rights are for protecting speech and property. You don't have a RIGHT to be hired by someone. I hire you to provide value to me. [If I moved to an island where everyone hated me, I know they'd still hire me to build their houses cause that is a proficient skill that I possess. They don't pay me a lot cause they're racist, or what have you? Ok, I go to the next employer and ask for more. Scale matters here obviously but it's a big fuckin world ok] You don't have a RIGHT to indiscriminate or discriminate bias... that is internal to the beholder... that is a cultural undertaking which has NOTHING to do with law. Why the hell would you want to work for someone who doesn't like you anyway? And they pay an economic price for being that way to begin with!... cause, who are they gonna sell to? Further, I think we're already in an age of growing disdain for moral ineptitudes, so... what the hell are you fighting for "legislatively"? Its all dumb. Blm is in the completely wrong ballpark. Fuck, they're in the wrong solar system.
Anyway, if you're reading this,, thank you John and Glen for being the most reliable and wisest voices of reason and truth for me amidst the mayhem. 🙏
